RECOMMENDED SYSTEM CONFIGURATION:
It is advisable to have a Macintosh 68040 (PowerPC recommended), 8MB RAM (16MB RAM recommended), System 7.1 or higher, QuickTime 2.5 (included with installer), 640x480 display running at 256 colors, and a double speed CD-ROM drive.
To install the Macromedia Multimedia Showcase:
1) Insert the Showcase CD-ROM in your CD-ROM drive with the label facing up.
2) Double-click the Macromedia Showcase Installer icon.
3) Follow the on-screen instructions.
4) Restart your computer if any System Extensions were installed.
5) Double-click the "Macromedia Showcase 6.0" icon to run the program.
The application's default memory partition is set to 6MB. However, if you have more than 8MB of RAM installed and you would like to see better performance, you may wish to increase its partition. To increase the memory partition, select the "Macromedia Showcase 6.0" icon, choose "Get Info" from the File menu, and increase the application's partition in the "Preferred Size" text field. Be sure not to allocate all your free memory to the Showcase application. Leave at least 500K available for the system!
On low end configurations, set your monitor to display 256 colors before running the Showcase application. This will reduce application RAM requirements, and improve performance and playback of animations. On faster machines with at least 16MB RAM, select thousands of colors for optimal QuickTime video quality. If you run the Showcase in thousands of colors, please be sure to increase the default memory partition of the application, as described above.
